MAG15 UV Carbon Air Treatment System
Product Information:
The UV Carbon Air Treatment System is designed to reduce odors
(VOCs) and eliminate biological contaminants such as mold,
bacteria, viruses, and allergens in indoor air. It is installed in
the duct work of the central air system. The system combines UVC
light and activated carbon cells for effective air cleaning.
The UV Carbon system has won an award for its innovative design
and is protected by US patent #7,704,463.
The system includes a main unit, power cord (ER Model), duct
mount plate, duct mount gasket, self-tapping screws, machine screws
(for cover), quick nut (plastic), tap-in connector (ER/DER Models),
spade connector (SI/DI Models), UV lamps, panel sticker, sight
glass, magnet mount, and secondary UV lamp (Dual System).
There are two types of UV lamps available: TUVL-115P with a
lifespan of 1 year and TUVL-215P with a lifespan of 2 years.
Additionally, there are UV lamps for dual systems: TUVL-115 with a
lifespan of 1 year and TUVL-215 with a lifespan of 2 years.
Product Usage Instructions:
1. Duct Mounting:
- Use gasket D to trace the cut-line onto the duct.
- Cut a hole in the sheet metal or duct board. Make sure to
remove and dispose of the cut-out piece. - If using sheet metal ducts, secure the mounting plate C to the
duct using self-tapping screws E. For duct boards, use tape on the
edges of the mounting plate for air leaks and additional hold. - Remove the paper backing from one side of the gasket and fix it
to the back of the mounting plate. - Remove the paper backing from the back of the gasket and fix
the mounting plate and gasket to the duct. - Bend the mounting plate flanges around the edges of the hole to
secure it. If installing without a backing plate, use four
self-tapping screws.
2. Main Unit & UV Lamp Mounting:
- Fit the main unit through the hole in the duct. If attaching
directly to metal duct, use four self-tapping screws. If using a
backing plate, fit the unit over the threaded posts and secure it
with four quick nuts G. - Insert the UV lamp into the main unit.
- Mount the UV lamp using two quick nuts and attach the lamp
connector, ensuring that the four connector pins are aligned. - Attach the cover using machine screws F.
3. Connecting to Power:
Before connecting to power, confirm the model being installed
and turn off the main power source. Always use proper conduit
fittings and terminations. The model information is printed on the
Power Unit cover.

Orient so the air flows past the UV light first before the carbon. Position the unit so the UV light does not shine directly on non-uv-resistant materials (filters, humidifiers, flex duct, etc.). Ideally the UV light shines on the coil.
For dual systems select a remote UV light location that shines on the greatest surface area or the area with the most microbial growth. Secondary UV Light installation instructions are on page 4.

Installation Notes
Before installing the Secondary UV Light it is necessary to determine the optimal mounting location inside the air system. First, look for the area with the heaviest mold growth. Also consider a location that will allow the germicidal UV Light to shine on the greatest surface area.
Some typical mounting locations:
1 Across top of coils
2 Coil “A” plate
1
3 Return-side duct

Important: Some materials inside the air system (including
filter media, flex duct, wiring etc) may not be UV light resistant.
Use the optional UV shield (part #TUV-SHIELD-LPC) or cover
the materials with reflective tape.

2. Use a utility knife to cut a slit in the insulation on the interior surface.
3. Place the magnetic bracket directly on the metal surface or remove the magnet and hard-mount the bracket using the Self-tapping Screws provided. Use foil tape to close the cut in the insulation.
4. Use plastic Quick-Nuts to attach the
UV lamp to the bracket as shown.
4.
1. Snap the magnet bracket apart by bending.
2. Drill a 1″ hole in the “A”-plate or duct then attach the smaller piece of the bracket with Self-tapping Screws.
3. Insert the UV lamp into the hole then use the plastic Quick-Nuts to attach the UV Lamp to the magnet bracket as shown.

3 Remote UV Light Configuration
IMPORTANT! Only Dual System models have the electrical capacity and attached cable to power the Secondary UV Light.
Find the secondary lamp cable on the right underside of the Dual System Main Unit.
Drill a 1″ hole in the air system housing then pass the lamp cable through the hole. The hole is then sealed with the rubber grommet to minimize air leakage.

4 Sight Glass Installation
1.
1. Apply the warning/lamp replacement sticker S on or near the HVAC system.
2. Drill a ½” hole through the circle on the sticker. Press the sight glass T into hole.
3. Turn on the power and use the sight glass
to confirm that the UV Lamp is operating.

5 Lamp Replacement
Replace the secondary UV lamp evey 1 or 2 years depending on model.
Note: UV lamps may continue to emit visible light after three years, however, germicidal effectiveness falls off over time and will quickly drop to near zero after three years.
