Technical description

Blinds are available in three mounting types in different sizes:

  • BR: Bracket mounted (available in sizes BR38, BR46, and BR55)
  •  MP: Mounting profile mounted (available in sizes MP38 and MP46)
  •  CA: Cassette mounted (available in sizes C1, C2, and C3)
There are three different types of fabric restraints:
  •  FH: Free hanging
  • GW: Guide wired (available as Dome (A), Flush Mount (B), and Extended (C), see
    GW versions in fig. 1)
  •  ST: Sidetracked (available with ST7, ST8, ST10, and ST11, see ST versions in fig. 1)

The number on the product label indicating the blind type is located:

  • For BR versions on the tube under the fabric
  •  For MP versions on the back of the mounting profile
  •  For CA versions on the back of the cassette

The blinds can be powered by 12 VDot bar 24 VDot bar or 230 V∼.
The operating voltage requirement of the blind motor is specified on the label attached to the cable.
The motor can be controlled using (see wiring diagram on DIAGRAMS leaflet):

  •  Manual switches: fig.4
  •  AP Remote control (DC versions only): fig. 5
  •  Central control system: fig. 6

Installation

DOMETIC 9600023469 Windows, Doors and Lights Roller Blind-warningWARNING! Electrocution hazard
Disconnect the power supply before installation.
DOMETIC 9600023469 Windows, Doors and Lights Roller Blind-ANOTICE! Risk of damage
Check the supply voltage for the blind (see cable label) and follow the relevant section below.

Notes on installation

Observe the following notes:

  • Only for blinds with 230 Vw:
    – All grounding connections must be securely connected. Damage to the wire connections represents a potential safety or functionality concern and should be checked by a qualified person before installation.
    – Power to the blind must be via a double pole isolation device with a minimum contact opening of 3.5 mm.
  •  Where electric supply failures are possible, an emergency backup power supply should be installed because the powered blinds do not have a manual control function.
  •  Control devices (e.g. switches) must be installed in visible locations.
  • The routing of cables through walls or bulkheads must be protected and insulated by appropriate bushing, grommets or cable conduits.
  • Secure all cables to prevent any contact with moving parts.
  •  Do not connect two or more motors to one switch as serious damage will occur.
  •  Do not connect one motor to two switches as serious damage will occur.
  •  Ensure cables are not damaged during installation.
  •  Ensure that the correct power supply is used for the supplied blind:
    – 12 VDot barRated power 12 W
    – 24 VDot barRated power 19.2 W
    – 230 V∼ Rated power 115 W
Notes on connecting to 12 V/24 =

Observe the following notes:

  •  Observe the cross-section for cables:
    – Motor cable: 0.5 mm 2 x0.5m
If the power supply unit is installed at a distance of more than 0.5 m, the cross-section must be adjusted to avoid a voltage drop of more than 3 %.
    – Switch cable: 0.13 mm 2 x0.5m
  •  The motor control cable must be connected to a dry contact device. Any voltage on the control wires will cause irreparable damage to the motor.
  • If controlled using switches:
    – Use a momentary, two independent (non interlocked), N/O + N/O single pole switches.
    – The operation of both up and down switches at the same time will stop the motor.
    – Repeat action of the switch stops the motor.
  • If controlled using an automation system:
    – Use two single-pole N/O dry contact relays.
    – The operation of both relays stops the motor.
Notes on connecting to 230 V∼

Observe the following notes:

  • All work on the electricity supply for the blind has to be carried out by a qualified or competent person.
  • The device shall be installed in accordance with national wiring regulations and any other regulations in force, specific to the location of the installation, e. g. marine application.
  •  Observe the cross-section for cables:
    – Motor cable: 4 core 0.5 mm 2 (max. tail length for marine applications), 800 mm, due to cable not being an LSF (Low Smoke and Fume) variant – Switch cable: 4 core min. 1.5 mm 2
–Infrastructure cable: Size is to be determined by a qualified electrician
  •  A ground connection to the housing of the switch is required to satisfy the safety and requirements of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE).
Notes on connecting to AP Remote control

Refer to the AP Remote control manual for further instructions.

DOMETIC 9600023469 Windows, Doors and Lights Roller Blind-warningCAUTION! Risk of injury
Only for boats and yachts: If the blind is in front of an open window, then the blind should be stowed when driving at more than 10 knots or in a sea state of more than moderate, as this can cause damage to the blind. Parts that come loose may injure persons in the vicinity.

DOMETIC 9600023469 Windows, Doors and Lights Roller Blind-NOTE NOTE
The motors have thermal cut-out devices built-in in order to prevent the motors from overheating for safety reasons. Prolonged, repeated use or overloading of the blind could trigger the cut-out. If this happens allow the motor to cool for a few minutes.

Observe the following notes:

  • Each blind can be stopped in any position.
  • When operating the blind with an automation system, the operation depends on the
    programming of the controls.
  • The blind is set up in the factory to automatically stop:
    – When the blind is fully deployed
    – When the blind is fully stowed

Cleaning and maintenance

DOMETIC 9600023469 Windows, Doors and Lights Roller Blind-A NOTICE! Risk of damage

  • Do not grease, oil, or lubricate the blind. Lubricants will damage the fabric.
  • Be careful not to crease the fabric when using the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
  • Rubbing can damage the fabrics.
  • Spot-cleaning may result in cleaner areas than the surrounding.
  • Do not soak the blinds.
  • The manufacturer recommends testing any cleaning agents on a hidden area of the blind first.

DOMETIC 9600023469 Windows, Doors and Lights Roller Blind-NOTE NOTE Cleaning by professional cleaning personnel
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for improper cleaning methods or agents used by professional cleaning personnel. In this case, the responsibility lies with the cleaning company.

Removing dust

  • Dust the blinds regularly with a dust rag, dust glove, or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Blow excess dust off of your fabric using a can of compressed air or a hair dryer in a cool setting.
  • Fully deploy the blind to clean the fabric.
  • Fully stow the blind to clean around side tracks or guide wires.

Spot cleaning

  • Spot-clean with a soft white cloth, moistened with warm water. Add a mild detergent if needed (non-abrasive and with no additives).
  • Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging the fabric. Always leave the blind deployed to dry thoroughly.

Cleaning windows

  • Always ensure the blinds are fully stowed before cleaning windows. This will prevent spoiling the blind fabric by splatter or sprays of water or detergent.
