FAQs
What is the heat radius around it?
Very small. Less than 2 feet. Ours didn’t even melt any snow on the ground around it when it was on the highest heat setting. If you aren’t standing right next to the lamp, you can’t feel the heat at all.
How long is the cord?
The cord is 6 feet long but remember the cord runs from them lamp on top, and it stands near 6 feet tall. It can’t be placed more than a couple of feet from an outlet. Most likely you’ll need an extension cord.
How many BTUs is this heater?
I’m not sure its heat is based on BTU’s. It’s based on UV radiation. It doesn’t heat the surrounding area, just objects in line with the UVs.
Will this kill bedbugs in a semi-truck?
In the cabin possibly if it can maintain a temperature of 140 F inside for over 2 hours.
Can this be set to run continuously, such as with using a 3rd party switch to turn on/off based on temperature?
I used this last season with an inexpensive Inkbird temperature controller switch, no problems. Very happy with this little heater.
how long is the power cord?
Six feet.
How do I get the second heat coil to turn on???
Pulling down on the cord. Once for single, twice for double. Caution it will warm your home fairly quickly. I use two coils for 10 minutes or less, then drop it down to a single coil.
It’s it safe to run outside all night in a covered patio? Just need to protect plants when frosts come on at night. Live in Ca.
This would depend on how large the space is that you want to heat, whether the space is completely enclosed and what the outside temperatures will be. I use it on 25-35 degree (F) nights in an enclosed 10′ x 12′ greenhouse tent and it keeps the tent warmed to 40-46 degrees when cranked up to the max setting, varying due to drafts.
I would like to maintain a room 13’×15′ in 140°farenheit for about an hour, is it possibly with this heater?
Not with this heater alone. You will need 3 heaters and one or two very strong fans to place behind the heaters in one end of the room to push more air through the heater and around the room to raise the temperature to that level. I had the exact same purpose and ended up using three heaters for a room smaller than yours. Depending on insulation and outside temperature it took three heaters approximately 3 to 4 hours to get to 140 degrees.
How close to a wall can you use this heater ?
The rear heat shield On the back works well and the floor base will keep the actual heater from touching the wall.
I have drip irrigation setup inside the greenhouse, will it work even if water is sprayed on them?
Since it is electric, I wouldn’t spray or let any water get onto or into this heater you’ll end up shorting it out, blowing a fuse or tripping a breaker.
What is the BTU output?
probably not more than 100, that is not a typo. It’s worthless!
what is the wattage for this heater?
1500.
Can this heater be used with an outdoor extension cord?
All early spring here in Montana, I used an outdoor ext. cord that is rated for this wattage and had no problems.
The bulbs went out. Are there replacement bulbs for this heater??
I sure contact the dealership or manufacturer. I haven’t had any problems with my heater.
