Choosing the right size door is a breeze
Andersen® storm doors conveniently attach to the exterior trim of an existing entry door. Find the door size you need by following these easy steps. 
- Height
Measure for height (H) from the sill to the underside of the exterior trim at the top of the door.

Record your door height. - Width
Measure the width at the top (w1), center (W2) and bottom (W3) of the door
opening. Use the shortest measurement when ordering if they vary.

Record your door width.
For double doors, order 2 doors and a double door kit. - Select Door Size
Use the sizing charts below to select a door size. Be sure to verify space requirements for the door you select.

Verify Rough Opening Requirements
Select a storm door and then verify the minimum space requirements on your existing door frame to make sure that your new storm door will fit. 
Dimension A
- Minimum of ¾”
(1.91cm) for all storm doors; except the 75 Series, Forever® Series and the 4000 Series Fullview with Laminated Safety Glass Storm Door which require 1″ (2.54cm).
DIMENSION B - Minimum of 1″
(2.54cm) required - For openings with exterior door trim measurement (B) less than 1” but greater than 3/4”, order optional narrow mount kit for proper installation.
DIMENSION C - Minimum of 2 ½” (6.35cm) required

To qualify for Andersen Custom XL sizing, only one of the following conditions must be met:
- Width of the opening must exceed 38 3/8″ or
- The height of opening must exceed 84 7/8″
Andersen Custom XL must be specified RH or LH. Ask an associate for details. For openings up to 1″ wider than those listed, order optional Z-Bar Extender kit. Kits are also available for double-door installation for all models and colors.
