Insert plate when gluing the leg. Plate must have clearance in the groove to avoid cracks in the leg! The clearance allows the leg to be accurately aligned during assembly. If the legs are large or the foot and the table top have a slippery surface (lacquer on lacquer), the outer edge can be secured with a dowel or Lamello connector to prevent twisting.
