MOUNTING
- Locate an area in the engine compartment that is dry and safe from the exhaust manifold heat.
- Mount the speaker with the opening facing downward, this will help prevent dirt and water from entering into the speaker.
- Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark the hole locations and, drill three-(3) 1/8” holes and secure the speaker with screws provided.
WIRING: Fig. 1
- Red wire is connected to (+) 12 volts positive such as the battery, alternator, etc.
- Black wire: is connected to the horn switch.
- The horn switch’s other terminal is connected to ground, (body of vehicle). Important: A good ground connection should be free of rust and paint. Installation is complete.
- Always make sure that the horns electrical circuit is protected with a 3-amp fuse to protect the vehicle.
WARRANTY
Wolo Manufacturing Corporation (“Wolo”) warranties to the original purchaser, for three months from the date of pur-chase, that this product is free from defects in workmanship and materials. If there is such a proven defect, Wolo, at its option, will either repair or replace the item free of charge, if it is returned to Wolo within three months from the date of purchase together with proof of purchase as described below. Wolo reserves the right to inspect any defect prior to settling any warranty claim by repair or replacement. This warranty is limited as above provided and Wolo will not be responsible for fire or other casualty or accident, due to neglect, abuse, abnormal use, modifications, faulty installation of this product, or natural causes.
ANY EXPRESSED WARRANTY NOT PROVIDED HEREIN IS EXCLUDED AND DISCLAIMED. THE IMPLIED WAR-RANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE EXPRESSLY LIMITED TO A TERM OF THREE (3) MONTHS. Frequently Asked Questions
I’m installing the horn on a golf cart that uses 8 vdc batteries. Will the horn take 16 vdc?
I have use one at 14 volts and it worked fine. 2 more volts should not make a big difference however you are in uncharted territory.
Can this be used with 24v 40va or as a doorbell?
This unit only works on 12 Volt DC.
Do I need to buy a switch/ button for it ?
I just received mine and it did not come with a button. They should really highlight that in the product description.
Can the recording be changed and used as doorbell?
This device only plays one time and that is the wolf whistle, it cannot be changed. Also this device is for automotive use, 12 volts DC, most home door bells operate on 24 volts AC.
What kind/size of relay or fuse do I need?
it recommends a 3amp fuse.
Why does it whistle none stop when I hook up wires?
You need a momentary push button wired up to it. The button can be mounted on your dash within easy reach. You can also hook up a remote to it with a key fob which is neat. You can be seated near the car am secretly hit the wok whistle when a pretty girl walks by.
Will it play other tunes?
Although it won’t play other tunes, you can make it make other sounds. You can make it chirp with and very quick tap. You can make a short whistle like when calling a dog with a longer press of the button (but not held). You can make an annoying chatter by pressing quickly multiple times. You make the wolf whistle by pressing and momentarily holding the button to complete the cycle. I learned how to make the other sounds because every time my girlfriend rides along she would be mad if I made the intended whistle. People might say that it is limited but I love this horn and use it more than the regular car horn because it is less annoying to other drivers but still gets their attention.
Does this install with a power and ground?
The Wolf Whistle is powered by a 12volt battery. The battery has a +Positive and a -Negative posts. If you run a wire to each of the whistle’s two connection posts and to each of the battery’s two posts, the whistle will operate. If you install a fuse and a switch in one of the wires, you control the whistle.
Will this make dogs howl?
No it won’t but it will turn a few heads. You can get dogs to pay attention though. If you press the button and release quickly, it will produce a short quick whistle that many dogs are used to and respond to. To make the intended “wolf whistle” sound you have to press and hold momentarily to produce that famous whistle when you think someone is good looking. I have had many different horns and whistles for my truck but this is by far the best, it always stands out and is greeted with a happy reply. Humans or dogs, they all love it, it’s a compliment not a warning. It’s the one pressing the button that may howl.
Does it sound like a wolf or what men sometimes whistle at a good looking woman?
It’s a wolf whistle men do that to get a woman’s attention and to tell her she’s a good looker.
