Wiring and Operation
- STEP 1. Connect a jumper cable from the LNB to the satellite finder’s “FROM LNBF” input.
- STEP 2. Connect the “TO REC” to the DC 13~18V power supply which comes from the satellite receiver.
- STEP 3. Make sure the satellite finder is properly connected. Plug in the AC cord and turn on the satellite receiver. The satellite finder will light up, and the reading should be around 1.
- STEP 4. Make coarse dish adjustments by setting the azimuth and inclination.
- STEP 5. Adjust the knob on the satellite finder until the reading is close to 5.
- STEP 6. Adjust the dish position, feedhorn position, and polarization to have the highest reading on the finder.
- STEP 7. Remove the jumper
IMPORTANT:
When using this unit to install C-Band dish, you must not place the satellite finder in front of the dish to avoid false readings. When using an LNB with a gain higher than 60dB, insert a 5dB attenuator in-between the LNB and the satellite finder, or replace the jumper cable with a 20 ft. RG59U. If the read-out is jumping, the sensitivity is too high. Lower the sensitivity by adjusting S.A. on the bottom.

The device goes between your satellite receiver (doesn’t matter which provider) and the satellite dish.
Does the WINEGARD SF1000 come with the accs. and coax cable?
Yes it came with one coax cable.
Receiver locked, block LNB’s with foil except one and device will quickly report signal strength at the dish?
Not sure why you would block one LNB with foil … anyways the sat finder works best in fine tuning the position after you’ve already established level, azimuth, etc

The receiver will need to be turned on in order to power the meter properly

Signal strength is measured on a 125-point scale; the higher the number, the stronger the signal
How do I activate Winegard Internet?
click on SCAN FOR WiFi. This will bring up a list of all WiFi signals in range (this could take a few minutes).

If your satellite picture becomes frozen, pixellates or there is sound break up it is probably due to one of the following: the dish has moved, the cable is damaged, something is in front of the dish, it is raining very hard, or there is snow in the dish.
