FAQs
The Pohl Schmitt Electric Kettle has a plastic lid, while this one has a stainless steel lid.
The kettle will shut off automatically.
It takes about 3-7 minutes to boil 1.7 liters of water.
The kettle is dishwasher safe, but you should hand wash with warm soapy water for best results.
There’s nothing wrong with being concerned about “made in China” especially when marketed as a Swiss brand. There are great Chinese brands out there but also many garbage products. I lived in China before Covid. There are EU products over there as well because of quality issues for local products. I had a German Braun electric kettle for $40 15 yrs. ago. Someone dropped it and cracked lid; otherwise would keep going. My new Chinese kettle from Costco went bad and doesn’t shutoff after a few months. Then doesn’t go on.
The silicon ring at the base of this and all similar electric glass/steel electric kettles is absolutely required from an engineering standpoint. Glass and steel have very different coefficients of expansion. Without the silicon ring at the base of the kettle to accommodate the differences in glass and steel expansion, the kettle would leak.
Yes, you can.
No, it cannot be used overseas in 220 voltage.

That kettle is for boiling water not frothing milk. Maybe you purchased the wrong kettle.
Boiling is faster soaking is good but takes longer. Either way you still have to use a soft brush or cloth to descale.
This type of unit is designed to boil WATER ONLY!!! As soon as water reaches its boiling point, the temperature doesn’t increase at all, it remains constant, so it makes no sense to boil water for any length of time.
Yes. It is aluminum and glass.
I find that contacting the company directly sometimes helps. They may replace it for you.
