INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

  1. Hand wash* pitcher/dispenser, lid, and reservoir. Rinse well. With clean hands, insert the filter into the reservoir by lining up the groove in the filter with a ridge in the reservoir. Press firmly for a tight seal.
    • Do not wash in the dishwasher.

  2. To set the filter life status indicator, press the STATUS button and hold it down for 6 seconds until the green light next to ELITE FILTER blinks three times.BRITA-S01ZH7973J-Elite-Water-Filter-Replacements-for-Pitchers-and-Dispensers-FIG-2
  3. Open the lid and fill the reservoir with cold tap water.* Pour out the first 3 pitchers/first dispenser of water, or use to water plants.

  4. To check the filter life status, quickly press and release the STATUS button. When the light blinks red, you should replace your filter and reset the indicator (step 2), about every 6 months* for the average household.

  • You may need to change your filter more or less often than 6 months/120 gallons (454 L), depending on the amount and quality of the water you consume. For water with high levels of sediment, sand, and/or rust, the Brita® Elite™ filter may need to be changed more frequently to maintain the flow rate.
  • We recommend that you keep your Brita® system out of direct sunlight and replace any filtered water that’s been left sitting for several days or more.
  • For best results when filling the pitcher/dispenser reservoir, direct the flow of tap water on the side of the reservoir rather than directly on top of the filter.
  • Only keep the lid open for more than 5 seconds if you are filling your pitcher/dispenser because this activates the filter change indicator, which measures water use by counting the number of reservoirs filled.
  • The pitcher/dispenser works with all Brita® system filters except Stream.
