Introduction

Energy usage can be decreased with the MVH Whole Room Vortex Heater. There is a thermostatic temperature control knob on this space heater as a whole. Simply change the dial to your preferred heat level. With its three heat settings (750W, 1125W, and 1500W), this full-room heater enables you to control heat output and energy consumption more to avoid circuit overloads. The heated air is then dispersed throughout the space using Vornado’s patented Vortex heat circulation system. The MVH emits mild heat that evenly blankets the space, unlike traditional heaters whose hot coils produce regions of intense heat directly around the heater.

With its extensive safety features and whisper-quiet operation, this home heater offers worry-free use. If the device tips over, a tip-over switch automatically turns off the heat and power. The MVH’s distinctive design by Vornado ensures that it stays cool to the touch even after prolonged operation. And for the season after season of worry-free warmth, the MVH is supported by a 5-year limited warranty.

  • Extreme caution is required during the installation, operation, cleaning and maintenance of this product by or around children under age 12 and anyone with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance, its parts and packaging material.

INSTALLATION WARNING

To reduce risk of fire, electrical shock and injury to persons, observe the following:

  • A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Do not use this heater in an RV, boat or during any application where battery power is converted to AC power.
  • Place this product at least 3 feet away on all sides from, electrical outlets, furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, curtains and other objects that may cause or catch on fire. Do not place the heater near a bed because objects such as pillows or blankets can fall off the bed and be ignited by the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not place the heater on soft surfaces, like a bed, where air intakes or exhaust can be blocked in any manner.
  • No part of this product (the appliance, power cord, plug, packaging, etc.) should be placed near furnaces, fireplaces, stoves or other high-temperature heat sources. Do not use in a window, on an uneven or unstable surface, or near water.
  • The appliance, power supply, power cord and plug cannot come into contact with water. Do not use this product on wet surfaces. Do not use this product in a bathtub or shower or position the product where it may fall into a bathtub, laundry, swimming pool or another water container. Do not use this product outdoors or expose it to weather or elements.
  • Do not run the cord under the carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route under furniture or appliances. Arrange the cord away from the traffic area and where it will not be tripped over. The cord should not hang over edges of counters or be placed where it can be crimped or closed indoors. Place the appliance near an easily accessible outlet so the product can be unplugged quickly during an emergency.

SAFE USE WARNING—To reduce risk of fire, electrical shock, and injury to persons, observe the following:

  • Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Extreme caution is required at all times a heater is in operation. Always unplug heater when not in use. Vornado does not recommend unattended and unsupervised use of this heater.
  • This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles when moving this heater.
  • Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip). Do not use this heater on a surge-protected unit or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupted (GFCI) outlet. Note: GFCI outlets are typically found in bathrooms and kitchens and feature a “reset” button to prevent tripping of an electrical circuit.
  • Before plugging power cord into electrical outlet, be sure that all electrical information on the rating label, including voltage, is compatible with your outlet’s power supply.
  • WARNING
To reduce likelihood of circuit overload, fire and electric shock, do not operate with a solid state speed device, such as a dimmer control switch. Use of this appliance on the same electrical circuit as another high energy use product, such as a vacuum cleaner, blender, variable speed fan or circular saw is not advised.

Do not use this heater with a timer designed to automatically turn the unit on or off, as this may accidentally disable the heater’s thermal cutout safety feature.

  • Risk of fire. Do not operate if it has been dropped or if damage is apparent to any part of the unit including the cord and plug. Only original replacement parts may be used.
  • Never use the cord as a handle or otherwise yank, strain or stretch the power cord.
  • While the product is plugged in, do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • Check your heater cord and plug connections. A loose-fitting outlet can cause the plug to overheat or cause a fire. Be sure the plug fits tightly in the outlet. Check frequently during use to make sure the plug and outlet are not hot. If so, discontinue using the heater and have the outlet replaced by a qualified electrician.
  • Never ignore the signs of an electrical problem, such as warm outlet cover plates, sparks when plugging in or operating, and lights flickering/dimming during operation. Immediately turn off and unplug the appliance if any such problems are noticed. Contact a qualified electrician to investigate possible causes before operating the appliance again.
  • Note: Heaters draw more current than small appliances, overheating of the outlet may occur even if it has not occurred with the other appliances.
  • This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other.) To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  • Before moving, repositioning, servicing, cleaning and when not in use, use the product controls to turn off the power and then unplug. To disconnect from the outlet, grasp and pull only the plug. Also, power off and unplug if the product will be left unattended for an extended period of time or during electrical storms.
  • If your heater suddenly stops working:
  • This heater is equipped with a thermal cutout safety feature designed to automatically shut off when overheating is detected. See the “RESET HEATER” instructions in this guide to determine how to check and reset the heater.
  • If the heater and other electrical products suddenly stop working at the same time, your home circuit breaker or fuse may have tripped due to an overload of power. Consider only running your heater on the “low” setting, only running one heater at once and unplugging all other electrical products while running the heater, and/or hiring an electrician to install an additional circuit to your home’s electrical system.

SERVICING WARNING—To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, and injury to persons, observe the following:

Frequently Asked Questions

Once you find the right temp does it keep it there by turning on and off? What is the approx. temp swing?

Once you find your ideal temp. It will keep it by going on and off. It is so quiet that you don’t hear it going on and off.

The fan stopped spinning but the light is on, how to fix?

Recently I noticed my Vornado would turn on, with indicator LED and you could hear the unit trip on when you turn the dial, but with no fan or heat. All I had to do was blast around inside with some compressed air, it fired right back up. I’m assuming accumulated dust/gunk was preventing a circuit from completing.

I have previously used tower space heaters. With this heater, what does each setting equate to? I want to set the temperature to 73 degrees.

The ONLY way to use these heaters in ANY temperature control setting, and be able to ACCURATELY control the area temperature is to plug the heater into an EXTERNAL accurate thermostat. I have 8 Inkbird WiFi

Is this item/model made in the USA?

It is designed by Vornado Inc. in andover Kansas, but made in China. We had these in several offices, and ran them 8 hours a day for years- great quality and efficiency.

Does this ever give off any burning like smell?

It smelled like plastic for the first hour I had it but now that has gone away. No burning or smoke smell since.

Does this unit have a fan to force the heat and circulate

yes, and it is very quiet.

Will this heater start up again on it’s on after a power failure?

Yes it will.

Can u place it on the carpet?

Looked through the manual. Nothing about not being able to place on the carpet. It does say to not place on “soft surfaces” like beds. Due to the possibility of the intake vents (on the rear) and exhaust vents (the front of the Vornado), getting blocked. Just keep the immediate area around the unit free of clutter is the general rule. The manual says 3ft of clearance, though, with my room, that isn’t really possible so I just keep it on the carpet with nothing around it in a 1.5ft. radius.

Does the fan run full time or does it shut off when the heating elements turn off when set temperature is reached?

The fan turns off with the rest of the heating unit. There’s no option to run the fan independently on this unit.

Does any part of the heater get hot – especially if it’s been running for a few hours? Thanks

No, unlike element heaters, this does not get hot. And it heats a large room surprisingly well.

How strong is the fan? I want it to blow air toward my shower and not just have the heat rise up to the ceiling above it immediately.

It has very little power. Mine broke during its first use. Not worth the money. Never got anything back from the company or anything. Too much $$$ for it to fail that soon.

What about free shipping? On the checkout you charge me for shipping .

Click on the shipping details and change it to free shipping. If you’re eligible, It just takes a little longer.

Can it go outside on patio and keep you warm

That would depend on the insulation of the patio as well as the outside temperature. It is a subtle heater that will warm up a room to comfortable levels and it is very good at that. It’s not a furnace or a radiator.

Is there any way to set this heater to run continues without It shutting down?

I have mine set at Medium Heat and #7 and it runs until I shut it off. It is heating a room 14ft long, 12ft wide and 7ft high. It keeps it comfortable unless it gets too warm outside and then I just turn it off.

Do I needs to be plugged into the wall

Yes, it must be plugged into a 120 volt/ 60 hertz wall outlet.
