Laserliner 2142038 ThermoSpot XP Thermometer Display

CAUTION
Completely read through the operating instructions, the „Warranty and Additional Information“ booklet as well as the latest information under the internet link at the end of these instructions. Follow the instructions they contain. This document must be kept in a safe place and passed on together with the device.
Function/Application
The ThermoSpot XP is an infrared and contact temperature measuring device with memory function
and a Digital Connection interface for transferring the measured data. Non-contact temperature measurement of surfaces is realised by measuring and evaluating the amount of electromagnetic energy in the infrared wavelength range. There is a connection for a temperature sensor (K-type) to facilitate contact temperature measurement.

Inserting batteries
Open the battery compartment and insert batteries according to the symbols. Be sure to pay attention to polarity.

ON / OFF
The device can also be switched on with the MODE button (4). No measurement is triggered and the last measured values are displayed.
Auto switch-off after 30 seconds.

Infrared temperature measurement / continuous measurement / Hold
For continuous measurement activate the laser (see figure) and keep the button pressed.
Release the button as soon as the target laser pinpoints the measurement location. The measured value is held.
Mode selection
The device features various measuring modes.
Continuous measurement starts by briefly pressing the trigger button. A lock symbol appears on the display. The value is held (HOLD) by long-pressing the button again.
CAUTION:
The battery charge must be at least 15% for continuous measurement.

Infrared temperature: Setting the emissivity
An integrated sensor head detects the material/surface-specific infrared radiation emitted by all objects. The level of these emissions is determined by the specific emissivity of the material (0,01 to 1,00).
After switching on for the first time, the device is preset to an emissivity factor of 0.95, which is suitable for most organic materials and non-metals (plastics, ceramics, wood, rubber, paints, varnishes and stone). For materials with different emissivity factors, refer to the table under Point 7.
Wherever possible, paint or matt black stickers can be applied on non-coated metals and metal oxides, which due to their low, temperature-unstable emissivity are suitable for IR measurement only for a limited extent, as well as on surfaces with unknown emissivity in order to set the emissivity factor to 0.95. If this is not possible, use a contact thermometer.
CAUTION:
The emissivity last selected is set after the device is switched on. Check the emissivity setting before each measurement.
The device features a quick selection function for the stored emissivity factors (0.95, 0.85, 0.75, 0.65, 0.55) and accurate setting between 0.01 – 1.00.
Quick emissivity factor selection
The storage locations E1 – E5 can be changed arbitrarily. By long-pressing on the storage location
it can be adapted and the value remains stored. The factory reset resets the values to 0.95 / 0.85 / 0.75 / 0.65 and 0.55.

Max/Min/AVG modes refer to the infrared temperature and show the maximum, minimum or average infrared temperature. With the trigger (9) pressed, the Max/Min/AVG values are determined while measuring. The value is deleted and calcu- lated again at the start of a new measurement or by pressing the trigger (9).
Difference mode dIF
This mode refers to the infrared temperature and calculates the difference between the maximum and minimum infrared temperature while measuring. The value is deleted and calculated again at the start of a new measurement or by pressing the trigger (9).
CAUTION:
Difference mode dIF enables fast assessment with the aid of the maximum temperature difference within a structural element, e.g. house door / window / masonry.
Contact temperature mode T-K (K-type)
The device automatically switches to contact temperature mode T-K as soon as a temperature sensor (K-type) is connected. With a minimum battery charge of 15%, the device does not switch off automatically while the temperature sensor remains connected.
Memory function
The device is has 50 storage locations.
An acoustic signals confirms successful storage.
CAUTION:
In contact temperature mode the measured value will be stored only if it is selected.

Data transfer
This device has digital connectivity which allows wireless data transfer to mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets with a wireless interface.
The system prerequisites for a digital connection are specified at http://laserliner.com/info?an=ble This device can generate a wireless connection to devices which are compatible with the wireless standard IEEE 802.15.4. The wireless standard IEEE 802.15.4 is a transfer protocol for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN).
The range is set to a maximum distance of 10 m from the terminal device and greatly depends on the ambient conditions such as the thickness and composition of walls, sources of interference as well as the transmit / receive properties of the terminal device.
The digital connection is activated as soon as the device is switched on as the wireless system is designed to use very little electricity. A mobile device can link up to the active measuring device via an app.
Application (app)
An app is required to use the digital connection.
You can download the app from the corresponding stores for for the specific type of terminal device:
CAUTION:
Make sure that the wireless interface of the mobile device is activated.
After starting the app and activating the digital connection, a connection can be set up between a mobile device and the measuring device.
If the app detects several active measuring devices, select the matching device.
This measuring device can be connected automatically the next time it is switched on.
