Our commitment to image quality not only improves lens resolution, but also takes detail to a higher level.
Design
- DIE CAST MAGNESIUM FOR BOTH THE TOP AND FRONT COVERS
Die cast magnesium is used for both the top and front covers to ensure a solid, rigid body that remains lightweight at just 350g. The grip, which is shaped to fit perfectly in your hand, helps to deliver high image quality and impeccable overall performance. - LCD MONITOR CLEARLY DISPLAYS BOTH IMAGES AND INFORMATION
The LCD monitor features approximately 1.04M-dots. Both images and shooting information are clearly displayed and easy to see, even in dark scenes. Scratch- resistant reinforced glass provides excellent visibility and reduces reflections. - PRIORITY WAS GIVEN TO THE OPERATION OF THE METAL DIALS
The shutter speed and exposure compensation dials are milled from a metal block. As a result, they’re comfortable to use, easy to grip, perfectly torqued and operate with a reassuring “click.” - TWO COLOR OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE
Silver, with a sophisticated design and textures that stand out, andblack, an unobtrusive color that isperfect for street images, general snaps and reportage work. - NEW GRIP ENHANCES OPERABILITY

REAL-TIME VIEWFINDER SO YOU DON’T MISS A MOMENT
2.36M-DOT HIGH-PRECISION ELECTRONIC VIEWFINDER
The X-E2S is equipped with a 2.36Mdot organic EL electronic viewfinder with 100% coverage. The display is incredibly clear thanks to an optical structure using two glass lenses and one double-sided aspherical lens. Also,
since effects such as Film Simulation and exposure compensation can be applied, you can check how an image will look in real time. It is also possible to display natural tones, just as the naked eye would, by turning the preview picture effects off.
0.62×*1 VIEWFINDER MAGNIFICATION WITH A NEW UITO IMPROVE FRAMING
The X-E2S has a viewfinder magnification of 0.62×, making it larger and clearer than entry-level SLR cameras. A new user interface has been used to deliver an impressive viewfinder performance. A variety of information can be checked while concentrating on framing with the new display information design focusing on size and visibility.
DISPLAY TIME LAG OF 0.005 SECONDS – VIRTUALLY REAL-TIME
The camera’s real-time viewfinder has the world’s shortest display t ime lag of 0.005 seconds*2 making it possible to take panning shots of moving subjects. Combined with the new AF system, it’s a great camera to capture movement.
Control
OPERATION
DIALS OFFER INTUITIVE OPERATION
The shutter speed dial and exposure compensation dial can be changed with the right hand while holding the camera and adjusting the lens aperture with the left hand. Through the combination of settings on the shutter speed dial and aperture ring, Program (P), Shutter Speed Priority (S), Aperture Priority (A) and Manual (M) modes can easily be selected. In addition, fine exposure control is possible with a compensation range of up to ±3.0EV in 1/3 EV steps.
QUICK MENU CUSTOMIZATION AND SEVEN FUNCTION BUTTONS
Pressing the Quick Menu Button allows the user to display and edit 16 shooting options, such as ISO sensitivity and Film Simulation. In addition, the seven function buttons can be used to quickly make setting changes.
SWITCH TO FULL AUTO AT THE PRESS OF A BUTTON
The camera automatically recognizes scenes from 58 different options before selecting the optimal shooting settings. As the focus mode is also set to Auto in this Full Auto mode, it’s ideal for those times when you just want to shoot freely and not worry about missing anything. It is also possible to set your favorite scene using the camera menu.
Autofocus
HIGH-SPEED PHASE DETECTION AF
The camera’s Intelligent Hybrid AF system combines the excellent autofocus speed of phase-detection AF with the strong low light performance of contrast AF. The phase detection pixels in the center of the image sensor deliver autofocusing speeds as short as 0.06 sec*1. In addition, Phase Detection AF tracking abilities in dark conditions have been improved.
CONTINUOUS SHOOTING WITH AF-C
Features advanced motion prediction technology to predict the subject’s movement, enabling high-speed continuous shooting while tracking with AF at up to 7.0fps*2.
FACE DETECTION AND EYE DETECTION AF
In addition to Face Detection, the camera is also equipped with Eye Detection AF to focus specifically on the subject’s eye. This feature is perfect for shooting portraits with a shallow depth of field.
SIX NEW AF OPTIONS TO CAPTURE THE SUBJECT PERFECTLY
Performance
APS-C SENSOR WITHOUT OPTICAL LOW-PASS FILTER
The X-E2S is equipped with an APS-C-sized 16M X-TransTM*1 CMOS sensor. This unique color filter array eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter (OLPF). This design reduces the occurrences of moiré and false colors to deliver high-resolution images with natural, vibrant colors.
UP TO ISO 51200
Through the combination of the sensor and processor, you can shoot at high sensitivities up to ISO 51200. Deep blacks with less noise are captured even when using this ultra-high sensitivity, and hand-held shooting is now possible in even lower lighting conditions
IMAGE PROCESSING ENGINE DELIVERS HIGH-SPEED PERFORMANCE
Thanks to the high-speed EXR Processor II processing engine and sensor incorporating phase detection pixels, faster autofocus, start-up time, shooting interval and shutter time lag are achieved.
ULTRA-FAST ELECTRONIC SHUTTER WITH A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 1/32,000 SEC.
The camera is equipped with an ultra-fast electronic shutter with a maximum speed of 1/32,000 sec., so you can take pictures at wide apertures even in bright outdoor scenes. This means you can take full advantage of the bokeh effects from FUJINON XF lenses. A mechanical shutter, electronic shutter, or a combination of the two can be selected.
ADVANCED FILTERS
The camera comes equipped with eight digital filters, including Toy Camera for a retro look, Miniature to create a model effect, and Pop Color for emphasizing contrast and saturation.
MULTIPLE EXPOSURE
With Multiple Exposure shooting, users can superimpose two images in one frame. The first shot is displayed while shooting the second, so you can view the final effect before you take the picture. Amber [White balance bracketing ] Blue
AUTO BRACKETING
Choose from five different auto bracketing functions (AE, ISO Sensitivity, Dynamic Range, Film Simulation and White Balance). In each option, the X-E2S captures three images of the same scene in a single exposure, so you can choose your favorite shot later.
MOTION PANORAMA
By simply panning the camera using the guidelines, dynamic 180-degree panoramic images can be taken. A 120-degree panorama setting is also available. Once all the shots are taken, the camera automatically stitches the images to form a single photograph.
Functions
WIRELESS TRANSFER
Remote shooting is possible using a smartphone or tablet. Images can also be transferred to the device, and images stored on the camera can be viewed remotely. In addition, images can be sent to the SHARESP- 1 (sold separately) for printing.
SUPER INTELLIGENT FLASH
Fujifilm’s Super i-Flash delivers the ideal amount of flash for the scene. The X-E2S captures faces perfectly even in backlit or dark conditions. When shooting macro images, the flash prevents the subject and background being washed out.
MANUAL FOCUSING
Focus Peaking highlights high-contrast areas as a guide while focusing manually. Even smoother focusing is possible using the Digital Split Image function, which combines the right and left sides of the image to show sharp focus.
MOVIE SHOOTING
A wide variety of frame rates (60/50/30/25/24fps) can be selected with Full HD movie quality. Manual exposure can also be adjusted to help you create the movies you want.

FAQS
Is this a crop sensor?
Yes.
Has anyone successfully installed the electronic level or histogram?
Yes, open the menu in normal mode (not preview mode), go to the 1st wrench option -> screen set-up -> disp. custom setting -> electronic level/histogram
How does this compare to sony a6300?
The a6300 has a tiltable LCD screen. It probably operates faster, i.e. less time between shots. It is said to have excellent autofocus and very good video. The biggest complaint about it that I’ve seen is a poor user interface. The x-e2s is one of my favorite cameras (I’ve been shooting since the 60’s with Mamiya-Sekor, Minolta, Pentax, Nikon, Canon and other cameras). It has an excellent user interface and it takes the best color photos I have ever taken with anything. The negatives are: it is relatively slow, the autofocus is poor with some of the fuji lenses, I don’t think the spot metering works very well (too small a spot?), the video is ordinary at best. The kit zoom lens with the X-E2s is unusually good. For more information, if you just do a web search on “Fujifilm X-E2s vs Sony A6300” you will get several hits. If you can’t decide, you can rent these cameras off the internet for a week or so and compare them.
Does anyhone have an x-e2s near central florida that i could see? without old fashioned camera stores, touch and feel before buying is impossible.
Camera shops are becoming a thing of the past. Southern Photo closed last year after 53 years.
When shooting raw files, are the DR and film simulation choices disabled (or not relevant)?
They are both still active. They might act during RAW conversion.
Lens:Can i use canon or Nikon Lenses? (w/o an adaptor)
YES
Can you set the X-E2s for auto iso (range from 100 to 6400?) and use manual shutter and aperture to get proper exposure?
Yes you can. And it has a few options for auto ISO ranges, 100-800 for example, also 100-6400. It is a very flexible interface with all the control you need.
What is included in the box
The base system includes the camera, lens and strap. Definitely go for the Bundle ($29 more) – it includes a case, SD card, etc…
Can the battery be charged inside the camera via USB cable?
The battery will not charge via USB, it has to be inserted into a wall charger. There may be aftermarket products available, however Fuji does not manufacture or support any such products.
Regards,
Dumb questions but is this camera at all good for taking any kind of macro shots?
That would depend entirely on the lens. For example, here’s a fujinon lens that does macro that will work with this body https://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-X-Pro1-60mm-F2-4-Macro/dp/B006ZSNU4O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1499694122&sr=8-3&keywords=fujifilm+macro
Where is the fujifilm x-e2s made?
Japan. If you go to digitalrev.com they have video of a tour given of the factory. Makes you appreciate the work that goes into making a camera.
How is the camera with lens kit different from camera only? Reading description I don’t see anything different.
The camera body alone is about $700. If you want the body AND the kit lens (which is excellent), then it is about $1000.
