2. INTRODUCTION

Versatile lifting range, low entry minimum saddle height 100mm, maximum saddle height 535mm. Twin piston rocket lift, brings the lifting arm straight into contact with the jacking point with minimal pumps. Heavy-duty castors and extra large saddle design, allows ease of positioning under the vehicle protective jack handle sleeve to help prevent accidental damage to car bodywork when pumping the handle. Heavy-duty chassis, with strengthening flanges along the side, for extra torsional rigidity under load. Fitted with safety overload and pump-through valve, preventing the handle locking at maximum ram extension.

TRANSIT LOCK Before use, the transit lock (fig.1) needs to be removed. Apply pressure to the handle yoke and remove the lock from behind it. Keep the lock in case the jack needs to be transported in future. HANDLE FITTING Connect the two halves of the handle, ensuring that the ball in the top half engages in the hole in the lower half. Loosen the handle retaining bolt (fig.2) and insert the handle into the yoke, ensuring that the square in the handle mates with the square in the yoke. Tighten the handle retaining bolt to secure the handle; DO NOT over tighten. PURGING Before first use, purge the hydraulic system of air. Open the release valve (fig.3) and pump the handle about 20 times. Close the release valve; the pump should now feel firm. If not, repeat step 4.3.2.

WARNING: Before use ensure you have read, understood and apply Section 1 safety instructions. IMPORTANT: Before use, the operator should visually inspect the jack for cracked welds, damaged or missing parts or hydraulic leaks. RAISING A VEHICLE Ensure that the jack and the vehicle are on a hard, level surface. Ensure the vehicle handbrake is engaged, engine is switched off and transmission is in gear (or “PARK” if automatic). Consult the vehicle manual to determine the location of jacking points. Position the jack under a suitable lifting point. Turn the handle clockwise, to the closed position (fig.3). DO NOT over-tighten. Raise the vehicle to the desired height. Place axle stands beneath the locations recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Turn the release valve anticlockwise slowly to lower the vehicle on to the axle stands. LOWERING A VEHICLE WARNING: Ensure that the area below the vehicle is clear before lowering. Turn the release valve clockwise to the closed position. Pump the handle to raise the vehicle off the axle stands. Remove the axle stands from beneath the vehicle. Turn the release valve slowly anticlockwise to lower the vehicle to the ground in a controlled manner. NOTE: When not in use, always leave the saddle and ram fully retracted.

IMPORTANT: Only fully qualified personnel should attempt maintenance or repair. Check the condition of the markings. These must be maintained in their original condition. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE To keep the jack well lubricated, carry out the following steps: Lubricate the ram, the linkages and the saddle and pump mechanism with light oil. Grease the wheel bearings and axles. Lubricate the castors with light oil. Keep all jack surfaces and warning labels clean. Check and maintain the ram oil level (see below). THREE MONTHLY MAINTENANCE At three monthly intervals, check the ram for any signs of rust or corrosion. Clean the ram as required and wipe with an oiled cloth. CHECKING OIL LEVEL Retract the ram fully by turning the release valve counter-clockwise. With the jack level, remove the oil filler plug, located on the ram body underneath the top plate. Remove 4 screws to access. The oil should be level with the bottom of the oil filler hole. If it is not top up with clean hydraulic jack oil. (Sealey Part No: HJO500MLS or HJO5LS) Replace the oil filler plug and check the jack operation. Refit top plate. Purge air from the hydraulic unit as required. Refer to Section 4.3.
