Placing this unit too close to a CRT TV set might impair picture color or create a buzzing noise. Should this happen, move the speaker away (more than 20 cm (7-7/8”)) from the TV set.
When using a PDP or LCD TV, it would not happen.

WARNING

  • NS-C210 weighs 2 kg (4 lbs. 7 oz.). Do not mount it on thin plywood or a wall with soft surface material. If mounted, the screws may come out and the speaker may fall. This may damage the speaker, or cause personal injury.
  • Do not touch the adhesive surface after peeling off the seal as this will weaken its adhesive strength.
  • Thoroughly wipe clean the surface where the fasteners are to be attached. Note that adhesive strength is weakened if the surface is dirty, oily or wet, and that this may cause the center speaker to drop.
  • Do not install the speaker on a wall with nails, adhesives, or any other unstable hardware. Long term use and vibrations may cause it to fall.
  • To avoid accidents resulting from tripping over loose speaker cables, fix them securely to the floor or wall.

CONNECTIONS TO YOUR AMPLIFIER

Before making connections, make sure that the amplifier is switched off.

Yamaha Audi=--NS-C210BL-Center-Channel-Speaker-fig-8

  • Connect the screw-type input terminals at the rear of the speakers to the speaker output terminals of the amplifier (or receiver) with the speaker cable.
  • Connect the (+) terminals on the amplifier (or receiver) to the (+) terminal of each speaker, making sure to confirm the color-coded wire of the cable at each end. Use the other wire of the cable to connect the (–) terminals of the components.
  •  Connect one speaker to the left (marked L) terminals of your amplifier, and another speaker to the right (marked R) terminals, making sure not to reverse the polarity (+, –). If one speaker is connected with reversed polarity the sound will be unnatural and lack bass.

How to connect

  1. Loosen the knob.
  2. Remove 10 mm (3/8”) of insulation from each end of the cables, and twist the exposed conductors together neatly and tightly, as shown below.
    Yamaha Audi=--NS-C210BL-Center-Channel-Sp eaker-fig-9
  3. Insert the bare wire.
  4. Tighten the knob and secure the cables. Test the firmness of the connection by pulling lightly on the cables at the terminal.

Notes

  • Do not let the bare speaker wires touch each other as this could damage the speaker or the amplifier, or both.
  • Do not insert the insulation into the hole. Sound may not be produced.

Taking care of the speaker

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can it be mounted to the wall?
Yes, mine had keyhole type brackets (like the ones on the back of power strips) that let you attach flush to the wall using screws. I don’t remember whether or not screws and molly bolts were included, though.
  • Would this work with a different brand 5.1 home theater as a center speaker?
Yes… basically it is a speaker and will work with any input rated for its impedance. It’s powerful enough to handle basic home theater not stand alone power. I believe it’s 100watts. But it will work with any system, just be mindful or the power rating.
  • I have Bose cubes all around (except sub). Never been happy with dialog – I’m constantly adjusting volume up and down.
Yes. I have Bose cubes with the Bose Passive Subwoofer and a second powered subwoofer, my rears are in Pyles in my drop ceiling about 15 feet from the scree. My front cubes are on the far end of a 12 foot wide screen with the Yamaha in middle about 2 feet off the ground. Works perfect for all kinds of movies and Wii Games. I of course bypass it for music.
  • Can this be connected to use as a sound bar only,Just this unit & tv only ! plus the option running all 5 surround speakers if wanted ?
This is a passive speaker, it requires some sort of audio component to drive it. It’s intended to be used as part of a surround sound system.
  • Being as it is not shielded how close can it be to the tv with out a problem?
I had placed it at less than 10 cm front of my tv smart sony bravia tv without problemas.now,i moved at 30 cm above TV with no problem at all.
  • I’m looking for wall mountable center to replace my polk 5.1 center – dialogue difficult to hear. think the mismatch will work? yamaha rx375 receiver.
my guess is that it would work just fine. I also have a Yamaha receiver and bought this speaker to solve the same problem that you have. It does an excellent job.
  • Can this be easily and only hooked up to the matching sub than to the t.v. aloone?
This speaker has to be hooked up to a receiver for the best sound.
  • I have the 725w 5.1 home theater in a box from yamaha (yht-4930ubl), would this be an upgrade to the center that came with it?
Yes I believe it would be
  • Does this have a built in crossover? Any better center channel for the money?
I have replaced this with a pair of JBL Control 1 speakers for my center channel.
  • Will this work with the yamaha rx-v485bl?
Yes it will – The rx-v485bl will support speaker impedances as low as 6 ohms – The NS-C210BL has an input impedance of 6 Ohms.
