Smell / Spotting / Descaling
The residue, smell and red spots do not come from the Stainless Steel or glass. They can be caused by limescale which are natural deposits (calcium, magnesium, iron and copper) that may build up depending on the water in your area, which, over time, can cause spotting and residue.
While you do not need to worry about hygienic or health-related issues, we do strongly recommend descaling your kettle from time to time to avoid limescale build-up and other issues.
What you need:
- 3 table spoons White Vinegar
- 1 cup Water
STEPS
- Mix 1 cup water to 3 tablespoons vinegar solution
- Pour the solution into kettle and close the lid
- Bring the solution to a boil and leave for 5-8 hours.
- Dispose solution down the drain.

FAQs
Is it simple to clean this kettle?
Yes, the kettle is really simple to clean; all you have to do is rinse it out (we are just boiling water in it). The only issue was that there were some mineral deposits on the bottom of the glass kettle where the heating element resides, which appeared as small round spots along the outer border, after months of use and numerous pots of water every day at the office. The mineral deposits were easy to remove—all I had to do was stir some CLR about in the kettle’s bottom.

To fill your kettle, add 1/4 cup of vinegar to a jug and partly fill it with water. After properly combining the ingredients, pour the liquid into your kettle and turn it on. After the kettle has boiled and been turned off, unplug it and leave it alone for 20 minutes.
