As with all machinery, there are certain risks involved with the operation and use.
Exercising respect and caution will lessen the risk of personal injury considerably.
However, if normal safety precautions are overlooked or ignored it might result in personal injury to the operator or damage of property.

  • Read and become familiar with the entire user manual. Learn the machine’s applications and limitations as well as the specific potential hazards particular to it.

splitters, which may be produced during work.
  • It is important at all times to wear goggles or a visor, which protects the head against chips and splinters that may be produced during work.
  • You must not remove or tamper with the protection devices and safety devices.
  • You must not stand in the range of action of the machine. Apart from the operator, no other person or animal may be present within a radius of 5 meters from the machine.
  • Danger of cutting or crushing the hand exists: never touch hazardous areas while the wedge is moving.
  • Never remove a log trapped in the wedge with your hands. Never touch the moving parts of the machine when the machine is on.
  • Inspect for damaged parts. Before further use of the machine, a guard or any other part that may be damaged shall be inspected to ensure that it will operate properly  and perform in its intended function. Check for alignment of the moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, or any other conditions that may affect its operation. A  guard or other parts that are damaged should be properly repaired or replaced.
  • Keep guards and slide bars in place and in working order.
  • Always remove adjusting keys/spanners etc. Form habit of checking to ensure that keys and spanners etc. are removed from the machine before turning it on.

  • Draw attention to the blade always being sharp, replace when necessary.

Electric motor
It is important that the saw is connected to a corresponding current, as described on the machines type tag.
If the cord is less than 25 meters the copper cross section must be minimum 1,5mm2.
If the cord is more than 25 meters the cross section must be minimum 2,5mm2. Note, however, that there may be national differences with regard to type of plug. Therefore,  check that the plug which is being used respects the demands of your country’s legislation concerning earth connection. A 16 Ampere fuse shall be used.
Motor brake
The electric motor is equipped with a motor brake which automatically shuts the motor off at overload.

Mounting

Assemble the log cutting saw as shown in illustrations 1-7:
Remove the log cutting saw from the box (Fig.1). Lift the machine with 2 people (Fig.2).
The log cutting saw is almost assembled finish from the factory and only needs a few steps to get fully assembled, see Fig. 3-7.

Operation

  1. For correct use of the log cutting saw, see Fig. 8-13
  2. It is important to have a clean working area. This is for your own safety. Make sure that the wood is easy to obtain and reach. There should also be good space to stack  the cut wood.
  3. Gain good footing and carry all kinds of protection such as guard, safety goggles, ear protection and gloves
  4. The saw is constructed so that it can saw maximum length of up to 1,5 meters.
  5. Only one piece of wood must be layer on the saw at a time, regardless diameter (maximum diameter 120 mm)
  6. The saw blade runs down for app. 10 seconds. The saw blade must not be braked by side back pressure. The engine makes a grumbling noise when braking and shortly after breaking. The switch must not be pressed (on or off) in any case in this phase. The engine may be started again only after there is no more grumble. TEXAS Power Saw 1800 - Power Saw1

Maintenance

The log cutting saw is almost maintenance free.
Always store the log cutting saw in a dry area. Even though the saw has been treated for rust, it may start to rust when exposed to too much damp.
Always disconnect the current when adjusting, repairing or maintaining the Power Saw.

Replacing the blade:

  1. Disconnect the current; open the protection shield, outer protection and front protection.
  2. Use only a sharp and complete blade.
