Ge Appliances Gfd65gssvww Reversible Side Swing Door Stackable Steam Cycle Smart Gas Dryer Instruction Manual

GFD65GSSVWW Reversible Side Swing Door Stackable Steam Cycle Smart Gas Dryer

Product Information

The product model numbers are GFD65GSSVWW and GFD65GSPVDS. The
product is a gas dryer with a rating of 120V, 60Hz, and 8A. The
dimensions of the dryer are as follows:

  • Stacked: 46-3/4″ (H) x 28″ (W) x 32″ (D)
  • Riser: 55-7/8″ (H) x 28″ (W) x 32″ (D)
  • Pedestal: 79-1/2″ (H) x 28″ (W) x 32″ (D)

The dryer is ADA compliant and comes with leveling legs that can
be retracted or fully extended.

Special Installation Requirements

For stacked installation, brackets for stacking the dryer over a
washer are not included with the washer. The part number for the
stacking kit is GFA28KITN.

If installing in an alcove or closet, the dryer must be
exhausted to the outside. Minimum clearances between the dryer
cabinet and adjacent walls or surfaces are 0 on all sides and top.
Closet doors must be louvered or ventilated, with a minimum of 60
sq. in. of open area equally distributed. If the closet contains
both a washer and a dryer, doors must have a minimum of 120 sq. in.
of open area equally distributed. No other fuel-burning appliance
should be installed in the same closet as the gas dryer.

If installing in a bathroom or bedroom, the dryer must also be
exhausted to the outdoors. The installation must conform to local
codes or, in the absence of local codes, to the National Electric
Code and National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223 for gas dryers.

For installations other than alcove or closet installations,
minimum clearances to combustible surfaces are 0 on all sides and
top.

Exhaust Length Calculation

The maximum length of 4″ rigid (aluminum or galvanized) duct
that can be tolerated is shown in a table. The dryer must be
exhausted to the outside. It is important not to terminate the
exhaust into a chimney, under any enclosed house floor (crawl
space), or into an attic to avoid fire hazards or moisture damage.
The exhaust should be terminated in a dampered wall cap located at
least 12″ above the ground or any obstruction, with the opening
pointed down to prevent back drafts, bird nesting, etc.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Make sure the dryer is properly installed according to the
installation instructions provided with the product.

2. If stacking the dryer over a washer, ensure that the
appropriate stacking kit (part no. GFA28KITN) is used.

3. If installing in an alcove or closet, make sure the dryer is
exhausted to the outside. Ensure that there are minimum clearances
of 0 on all sides and top between the dryer cabinet and adjacent
walls or surfaces. If the closet contains both a washer and a
dryer, make sure the doors have a minimum of 120 sq. in. of open
area equally distributed.

4. If installing in a bathroom or bedroom, ensure that the dryer
is also exhausted to the outdoors. Follow local codes or, in the
absence of local codes, the National Electric Code and National
Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223 for gas dryers.

5. For installations other than alcove or closet installations,
ensure minimum clearances of 0 on all sides and top to combustible
surfaces.

6. Use the appropriate accessories for the dryer if required.
Refer to the list of dryer accessories provided in the user
manual.

7. For improved performance, it is suggested to have a 1/2″
clearance on each side of the dryer.

8. Regularly clean the lint filter to prevent lint buildup and
maintain dryer efficiency.

9. Follow the maintenance instructions provided in the user
manual to keep the dryer in optimal condition.

10. If any issues or concerns arise during usage, refer to the
troubleshooting section of the user manual or contact customer
support at 1-800-GE-CARES.

GE® 7.8 cu. ft. Capacity Front Load Gas Dryer with Steam

DRYER EXHAUSTING INFORMATION METAL DUCT ONLY
For complete information, see installation instructions packed with your dryer.
DUCTING MATERIALS: For best performance, this dryer should be vented with 4″ diameter all rigid metal exhaust duct. If rigid metal duct cannot be used, then UL-listed flexible metal (semi-rigid) ducting can be used (Kit WX08X10077). In special installations, it may be necessary to connect the dryer to the house vent using a flexible metal (foil-type) duct. A UL-listed flexible metal (foil-type) duct may be used ONLY in installations where rigid metal or flexible metal (semi-rigid) ducting cannot be used AND where a 4″ diameter can be maintained throughout the entire length of the transition duct. Please see installation instruction packed with your dryer for complete instructions when using flexible metal (foil type) ducting.
EXHAUST LENGTH CALCULATION:
1. Determine the number of 90° turns needed for your installation. If you exhaust to the side or bottom of dryer, add one turn.
2. The maximum length of 4″ rigid (aluminum or galvanized) duct which can be tolerated is shown in the table.
A turn of 45° or less may be ignored. Two 45° turns within the duct length should be treated as a 90° elbow.
A turn over 45° should be treated as a 90° elbow.
Dryers must be exhausted to the outside.
CAUTION: For personal safety do not terminate exhaust into a chimney, under any enclosed house floor (crawl space), or into an attic, since the accumulated lint could create a fire hazard or moisture could cause damage. Never terminate the exhaust into a common duct or plenum with a kitchen exhaust, since the combination of lint and grease could create a fire hazard.
Exhaust ducts should be terminated in a dampered wall cap to prevent back drafts, bird nesting, etc. The wall cap must also be located at least 12″ above the ground or any other obstruction with the opening pointed down.
