ThinkSystem SR655 Sets Two World Records with New 1-Socket TPC-E Result
Performance Benchmark Result
Lenovo has published a new TPC-E benchmark result that has set two world records. Achieved on the powerful Lenovo ThinkSystem SR655 2U rack server, the benchmark result is:
The world’s best TPC-E result for one-processor (1P) performance The world’s best TPC-E result for one-processor (1P) price/performance
The TPC-E benchmark is designed to enable customers to objectively measure and compare the performance and price of various On Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) and database systems.
The ThinkSystem SR655 server achieved the following score (1):
6,716.88 tpsE (transactions per second E) @ $99.99 USD/tpsE
This result sets two new records:
The best one-processor performance in the industry, and is 1.6% faster than the two-processor Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX2540 M4 (2) The lowest ever one-processor price/performance
Including this new result, Lenovo servers have the #1 1P (1), 2P (3), 4P (4), 8P (5), and overall (3, 4) TPC-E performance and price/performance results.
The SR655 achieved this record level of OLTP performance using the following configuration:
Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Enterprise Edition Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition One AMD EPYC 7742 64-core processor at 2.25 GHz (1 processor, 64 cores, 128 threads) 1024 GB of Lenovo TruDDR4 memory
This result also relied on the Lenovo Storage D1224 DAS enclosures. Four D1224 storage enclosures and 80 SAS SSDs were used in the benchmark configuration, attached directly to the server using ThinkSystem RAID 930-8e controllers configured with RAID-5.
Results referenced are current as of August 7, 2019. To view all TPC results, visit http://www.tpc.org.
