Polaris 2017-18 Ranger Rack And Pinion
Product Information
The POLARIS 2017-18 Ranger Rack and Pinion kit is a replacement
kit that includes a rack and pinion, tie rods, tie rod ends, and
boots. The kit requires an 8mm Allen wrench, 13mm socket/wrench,
15mm socket/wrench, and 16mm socket/wrench for installation. The
hardware included in the kit are 8MM-1.25x100MM Hex Bolts x4,
10MM-1.5x80MM Socket Head Bolts x2, and 10MM-1.5 Lock Nuts x2. The
kit also includes top and bottom stand offs. The torque specs are
listed for each size and grade of bolt or nut required for
installation.
Product Usage Instructions
- Jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on jack
stands. - Remove the front wheels.
- Using a 15mm socket/wrench, remove the tie rod end. (Refer to
Photo 1) - Using a 13mm socket/wrench, remove the bolt holding the
steering sector to the steering rack. (Refer to Photo 2) - Using a 13mm socket/wrench, remove the nuts holding the rack to
the chassis and remove the rack and pinion. (Refer to Photo 3 and
Photo 4) - Install the new rack and pinion using the supplied
8MM-1.25x100MM bolts in the stock locations. (Refer to Photo
5) - Install the tie rod to the rack and pinion. (Refer to Photo
6) - Slide the boot onto the tie rod end and secure it using a zip
tie. (Refer to Photo 7 and Photo 8) - Reconnect the sector shaft to the rack and pinion using the
stock hardware and 13mm socket/wrench. (Refer to Photo 9) - Install the supplied nut and tie rod end. (Refer to Photo
10) - Install the supplied top and bottom stand off in the tie rod
end using the supplied 10MM-1.5x80MM socket head bolt. Reinstall
the tie rod end to the knuckle with the supplied nut and tighten
using an 8mm Allen wrench and 16mm socket/wrench. (Refer to Photo
11 and Photo 12) - Put on the wheel and lower the vehicle.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTONS
1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and place on jack stands.
2. Remove the front wheels. 3. Remove the tie rod end using a 15mm socket/wrench. See Photo 1. 4. Remove the bolt holding the steering sector to the steering rack using a 13mm socket/wrench. See Photo 2.

Remove tie rod end.
Remove bolt holding steering sector to rack.
5. Remove the nuts holding the rack to the chassis using 13mm socket/wrench and remove rack and pinion. See Photo 3 and Photo 4.

Remove nuts holding rack to chassis.
Remove rack and pinion.
6. Install the new rack and pinion using the supplied 8MM-1.25x100MM in the stock locations. See Photo 5. 7. Install the tie rod to the rack and pinion. See Photo 6.

Install new rack and pinion.
Install tie rod to rack and pinion.
8. Slide the boot onto the tie rod end and secure using a zip tie. See Photo 7 and Photo 8. Photo 7

Slide boot onto tie rod.
Secure boot with zip tie.
9. Reconnect the sector shaft to the rack and pinion using the stock hardware and 13mm socket/wrench. See Photo 9. 10. Install the supplied nut and tie rod end. See Photo 10.

Reconnect sector shaft to rack and pinion.
Install tie rod end.
11. Install the supplied top and bottom stand off in the tie rod end using the supplied 10MM-1.5x80MM socket head bolt. Reinstall tie rod end to the knuckle with the supplied nut and tighten using an 8mm Allen wrench and 16mm socket/ wrench. See Photo 11 and Photo 12.

Install top stand off in tie rod end. 12. Put on wheel and lower.
Install bottom stand off in tie rod end.
